"Tell me one last thing," said Harry. "Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?"

"Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"

—J.K. Rowling, from
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

My Services

I counsel individuals, couples and families, and also provide supervision and consultation for students, interns and licensed professionals.
The goal of individual treatment varies based on the needs and coping strategies of the individual. One can expect to feel more contentment, connection, and fulfillment from individual treatment. I use the therapeutic relationship as a doorway into unconscious motivations in order to help individuals learn to think more deeply about their choices and ways of being. An individual can come to peace with unresolved aspects of life experience and live a more meaningful and vital life through this process.

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering

There is a crack in everything

That's how the light gets in.

—Leonard Cohen

In couples treatment, the goal is to deepen intimacy, to gain understanding of what individuals bring to the relationship dynamic and to create an environment in which couples can learn to be allies. I help couples risk vulnerability and create open-heartedness, while undoing patterns of blame, resentment and isolation.

If you're going through hell, keep going.

—Winston Churchill

My orientation is psychoanalytic and relational, with a strong emphasis on somatic processes. I work with counter-transference and intersubjectivity as a way to understand the unconscious. I am respectful of all theoretical models but prefer to work with clinicians who are psychodynamically oriented.
